Accounting and Consulting

Wendy Klein has been appointed senior manager of the new South Bay office of West L.A.-based Roth, Bookstein & Zaslow LLP. She specializes in personal and business tax planning, administrative and management systems and financial analysis. Klein previously was a certified public accountant at the firm.

Howard Phillips has joined the Los Angeles-based Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group as a partner in the Telecom & Media Group. He will focus on providing management consulting services and building the media practice. Phillips previously was with the Monitor Co.

Banking

Terry E. Bess has been named senior vice president and manager of the new West Los Angeles office of Silicon Valley Bank, which has its headquarters in Santa Clara. Bess will be responsible for loan production activity and day-to-day operations. He previously was senior vice president, specializing in lending to technology companies.

Dennis J. Lacey has been appointed president of the newly formed equipment leasing division of Inglewood-based Imperial Bank. Lacey will be responsible for assembling a team of leasing officers to handle leasing transactions with clients, and manage equipment and credit risk. Previously, Lacey served as chief executive and president of Capital Associates Inc.

Community Development

Nancy Contreras has been named director of development for Los Angeles-based New Economics for Women. She will spearhead fund-raising and communications activities. Contreras previously served as vice president of the Los Angeles office of Stoorza Ziegaus & Metzger Inc.

Engineering

Mike Brady has been named vice president of the commercial and entertainment sector of Pasadena-based Parsons Infrastructure & Technology Group. Brady formerly was project director for architecture and engineering at Walt Disney Imagineering.

Steve Tedesco has been promoted to market area director of water and wastewater at Pasadena-based ASL Consulting Engineers. Tedesco will focus on the planning, analysis, design and construction management of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. In addition, Howard Arnold has been promoted to assistant director. He will focus on design and construction management of water and wastewater systems.

Entertainment

Patrick Murphy has been named senior vice president of the worldwide product fulfillment group in the digital studios division of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Murphy, who will be based at the Sony’s studio lot in Culver City, will be responsible for film and video manufacturing and quality control, inventory management and distribution. He formerly was vice president at Turner Entertainment.

Dennis Miller has been named senior vice president of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., as well as president of the newly formed Lions Gate Media. He will oversee all television activities and handle day-to-day operations of Lions Gate Media. Miller formerly served as executive vice president of Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition, Lions Gate Productions, the company’s production division, promoted Lauren McLaughlin to vice president of production. She will oversee each film’s slate, from pre-production to post-production. Carrie Walkup has been promoted to director of creative affairs, and will head Lions Gate Productions’ development arm. Also, Ernie Barbarash has been appointed director of production.

Kac Young has been appointed vice president of television production and development for Universal Studios Hollywood. She will be responsible for all network and cable television production taped in the theme park as well as special events for television. Young previously was a director, producer and writer for television.

Health Care

James P. Mason has been promoted to director of contracting and network operations at Long Beach-based Scan Health Plan. He will be responsible for negotiating and executing global contracts with large provider organizations. Previously, Mason was a regional network manager.

Law

Richard W. Brunette Jr. has been appointed chairman of the executive committee at the Los Angeles office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Brunette specializes in commercial litigation and creditors’ rights. Previously, he served as a member of the executive committee and as chair of the firm’s recruiting committee.

Elizabeth Mann has joined the Los Angeles office of McDermott, Will & Emery as a partner in the litigation department. She will focus on complex commercial litigation. Previously, Mann was a partner at Hennigan, Mercer & Bennett.

Grant K. Riley has been named a partner at the Los Angeles office of Frandzel, Share, Robins, Kaplan & Bloom. He will focus on the representation of financial institutions, master servicers and special servicers. He was formerly with Liner, Yankelevitz, Sunshine, Weinhart, Riley & Rengenstreif.

Media

Dawn Sibley has been named executive vice president and corporate media director at Los Angeles-based Western International Media. Sibley, who will split her time between the Los Angeles and New York offices, will provide strategic direction for Western’s clients and will become a member of the strategy review board. She previously was chief local broadcast officer.

Packaging

Richard Oppenheimer has been promoted to executive vice president of entertainment sales at AGI Inc. He will head up the L.A. office of Illinois-based AGI, and will direct strategic packaging sales efforts with a number of recording and home-video companies. Oppenheimer was formerly vice president of entertainment sales.

Real Estate

Steven J. Felderman has joined the Arthur Pearlman Corp. as vice president of development. He will be responsible for the development of retail real estate projects throughout California. Felderman previously was a project manager for Alexander Haagen Co.

Darrell R. Levonian has been named president in charge of brokerage for Los Angeles-based Charles Dunn Co. Levonian will focus on continuing the company’s plans for expansion, senior broker recruitment and networking of company services. Previously, he was chairman of Sands Commercial.

Brian Mott has merged his pre-existing company, Kearn Creek Holdings LLC, with Los Angeles-based Investment Development Services. He has been named managing director of the merged firm and will focus on development management. Mott formerly was a managing partner for Trammell Crow Co.

Richard D. Nanula has been appointed president and chief executive of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., a real estate investment trust. He will organize, integrate and manage the company’s global operations. Nanula previously was senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Walt Disney Co.

Technology

Daniel J. Finnigan has been named president of Pacific Bell Interactive Media in Pasadena. He will be responsible for all operating aspects of the products and for developing and managing strategic business development efforts. Finnigan previously served as vice president of sales and marketing.

Jonathan G. Lasch has been named president and chief executive of Advanced Sports Materials based in Pasadena. He previously was vice president of the technology department at the Scripps Research Institute.
