Applications for U.S. home mortgages decreased last week, with purchasing activity falling for the first time in a month despite slightly lower interest rates, an industry group said on Wednesday.
The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted index of mortgage application activity fell 0.7 percent to 756.2 in the week ended Aug. 19, denting the previous week’s 2.2 gain.
