Here’s the way it used to work: There were print journalists and there were electronic journalists, and the line between the two was seldom breached. Of course, all that has changed, as a quick scan of the Sunday-morning interview shows will demonstrate. In fact, print journalists are showing up all over the dial, seven days a week.
We at the Business Journal are eager to be part of that trend. Well, not exactly eager. Nervous is more like it. Over the past year or so, several of our reporters and editors this editor included have been showing up on radio and TV to go over stories or review local business conditions.
For us, it’s a good way to get more people around Los Angeles better acquainted with the Business Journal. And it’s fun, sort of. But what it points up is how difficult it is to appear at ease and even spontaneous, knowing that many thousands of people have you tuned in. The folks who do this day in and day out should be given their due. This is a tough way to make a living.
