Accounting

Nitin Gupta and Bonnie P. Chow have been appointed senior tax consultants for Deloitte & Touche LLP. Both will oversee tax engagements and provide consulting to clients in the general tax services group, based in Los Angeles. Gupta previously worked for Corliss & Geringer as a controller. Chow was a tax senior for KPMG Peat Marwick.

Advertising & Marketing

Gary Fountain has been named group account director in the entertainment division of DDB Needham Los Angeles. His responsibilities include senior-level development and day-to-day management of client advertising and media objectives and strategies. Since 1994, Fountain has been associate managing director for entertainment.

Jamie Kramer has been named to the newly created position of account executive at Creative Domain in Los Angeles. She will be responsible for managing selected accounts and will be involved in developing new business. Previously, Kramer was marketing coordinator with Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Ben Purcell has been named senior copywriter at Colby Effler & Partners. Purcell will be involved in creating campaigns for clients in the entertainment, fashion and automotive industries, in the firm’s Santa Monica office. Previously, he was on staff at Kresser Stein Robaire.

Banking & Finance

Michael W. Perry has been named chief executive at IndyMac Mortgage Holdings Inc., located in Pasadena. Perry joined IndyMac in 1993 as chief operating officer. Also, Angelo R Mozilo will become vice chairman and president. His duties will include serving as senior advisor to all strategic business lines in the company. In addition, Richard Wohl has been promoted to chief operating officer. He will be responsible for all the company’s principal financial and administrative areas. Wohl has been general counsel and secretary for IndyMac since 1994. Melissa Gerard has been promoted to general counsel. She has been with the company since 1997, and was senior vice president and special counsel to the president. In other organizational changes, J. Mark Kempton and James D. Nichols Jr. were named co-presidents and chief financial officer and chief operating officer, respectively, in IndyMac’s manufactured housing division. Kempton was a former audit partner of KPMG Peat Marwick in the financial services area.

Rebecca Rothstein has been appointed senior vice president of investments for Salomon Smith Barney, in its downtown L.A. branch. She will be responsible for expanding asset management, corporate service and estate and trust service businesses. Rothstein was previously with B.T. Alex Brown.

Evon G. Rosen has joined Santa Monica-based Celtic Capital Corp. as vice president and director of marketing. She will be responsible for all marketing efforts and will spearhead business development projects. Most recently, Rosen served as vice president of marketing for City National Bank.

Robert J. Woolway has joined J.P. Morgan as managing director and head of the firm’s L.A. office. He will expand the firm’s franchise in the Western U.S. region, primarily in the greater Los Angeles area. Previously, he was with Merrill Lynch as managing director in its L.A.-based investment banking group.

Construction

Gary Rafferty has been promoted to senior vice president and regional manager of Swinerton & Walberg and will oversee operation of the Los Angeles, Newport Beach and San Diego divisions from the firm’s downtown L.A. office. Rafferty was most recently division manager of the company’s Los Angeles office.

Consulting

Bruce E. Beverly has been named president and chief operating officer of Haley & Aldrich in Los Angeles. He will be responsible for client service delivery and overall operational management. Beverly has been with the firm for 23 years, most recently serving as Northeast regional manager.

Entertainment

Jonathan Sichel has been promoted to associate general counsel for Miracle Mile-based E! Entertainment Television Networks. He will be the primary legal officer for the company. Sichel joined E! in 1995 as director of the business and legal affairs department.

Chris Tragos has been named vice president of marketing and business development for Paramount Digital Entertainment, based in Hollywood. He will manage the positioning and promotion of existing Web properties and oversee the launch of new ventures. Previously, Tragos was a managing partner at Troon. Also, Steve Benson was promoted to vice president of business affairs and the legal department. Benson joined the company in 1996 as senior attorney. In addition, Charles McColgan was promoted to vice president of technology. He will be responsible for setting the technical direction for new ventures, as well as running and maintaining existing Web properties. He has been with PDE since 1995, serving as director of technology. In another move, Seth Skolnik was promoted to vice president of development and e-commerce. He will oversee the development of PDE’s Web sites and manage the division’s electronic commerce initiatives.

High Tech

Christopher Franey has been promoted to senior vice president of global sales at ViewSonic Corp. in Walnut. Franey joined the company in 1993 and was most recently vice president of sales for the Americas.

Michael McDonald has been named senior vice president and group account manager for the L.A. office of Information Resources Inc. He will be responsible for serving packaged goods clients in the Los Angeles market. McDonald most recently was chief operating officer for North American Enterprises.

Law

Miriam Claire Beezy has been named partner at Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp LLP. She will be involved in trademark law at the firm. Beezy was most recently at Walt Disney Co., where she was senior trademark counsel.

Julia W. Brand has been elected partner in the finance and reorganization department of Katten Muchin & Zavis. Her practice is concentrated in bankruptcy and commercial litigation, and representing lenders and other creditors in court actions. Also, Jon Grizel has been elected partner in the real estate group. His practice concentrates on purchase and sales, leasing and real estate property finance. Brand and Grizel were previously associates in the firm’s L.A. office.

Joshua C. Gottheim was named Southern California chairman of the California State Bar’s zoning and land-use subsection in downtown Los Angeles. His responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing legislation that affects zoning and land-use law.

Manufacturing

Joseph T. McGrain has joined Compton-based Wolf Range Co. as president. He was formerly president of Gaggenau U.S.

Media

David Woodcock has been named president and general manager of KCOP-TV Channel 13 in Los Angeles, a UPN affiliate. He will be responsible for managing and overseeing operation of the station, including programming acquisitions and scheduling, as well as KCOP’s nightly news programming. Previously, Woodcock was president and general manager of KCAL-TV Channel 9.

New Media

Jim Ritts will join Digital Entertainment Network Inc. as chief operating officer. Ritts will oversee business operations of the network and will be involved in developing strategic alliances for the company, located in Los Angeles. Previously, Ritts was co-founder of the Channel One Network, the satellite news service for teen-agers.

Whitney Walker has been named director of the retail practice group at Magnet Interactive Communications in Culver City. He will head the online retail division. Walker was previously senior international merchant for Gap jeans. Also, Jim Saake and Kathleen Hylen will both become directors of business development and focus on several industries, including energy, software, entertainment and health care. Saake was most recently district sales manager for Edison Source. Hylen was direct sales manager for QXCOM Inc.

Personnel

Susan Ytterberg has been promoted to Southern California sales manager for The Affiliates. She will oversee operations in the staffing service’s downtown L.A. and Westwood locations. Ytterberg has most recently served as field consultant for the firm.

Real Estate

Gary R. Bricker has joined the El Segundo office of United Systems Integrators Corp. as director of technical advisory services. Bricker most recently provided counsel to businesses at Select Legal Services in Sacramento.

Paul D. Daze has joined Century Park Partners LLC as a principal in its West Los Angeles office. His responsibilities will include asset management, acquisitions and property due diligence. Daze was previously in the property management division of CB Richard Ellis.

B. Kipling Hagopian has been named chairman of Property First Marketplace Inc. in Alhambra. Hagopian will help expand the firm’s presence as a commercial real estate site on the Internet. In 1996, he co-founded Apple Oaks Partners, a private investment company.

Scott Schuster has been appointed first vice president of the Los Angeles office of Blatteis Realty Co., located in Los Angeles. He will handle new client acquisition and assist established clients expand their presence regionally and nationally. Schuster was previously an associate with Bernstein Real Estate in New York.
