L.A. Gas Prices Plunge

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles area dropped for the seventh week in a row, falling a whopping 15.5 cents to $2.483 for the week ended Nov. 21.


While L.A.’s 15.5-cent drop was the largest of the cities surveyed, its per-gallon price remained the most expensive for the fourth consecutive week.


L.A. prices are 19.9 cents higher than they were a year ago, according to the federal Energy Information Administration.


Statewide, prices plunged 12.9 cents to $2.453 from $2.582 one week earlier, leaving them 19 cents higher than year-ago rates. California had the highest-price gas in the nation for the seventh consecutive week.


Ohio had the lowest-priced gas of the states surveyed, at $2.029 per gallon, and the city with the cheapest gas was Cleveland, which shed 12.8 cents to $2.048 per gallon.
