The median home price in Los Angeles County reached $474,570 in November, a 3.6 percent increase from October and a 24.2 percent rise from year earlier, according to a report issued by the California Association of Realtors.
The price increases came as the sales pace slackened. Single-family home sales in November increased just 0.7 percent from October and 3.4 percent from the year earlier.
Statewide, the CAR reported prices in November were 23.1 percent higher than the year ago period, with the median hitting $473,260. Sales were up 4 percent in the same period.
Another report generated by CAR and DataQuick Information Systems named five L.A. County communities among the Top 10 most expensive in the state.
Malibu (median home price $1,387,500), Manhattan Beach ($1,267,000), Calabasas, ($1,175,000), Palos Verdes Estates ($980,000) and Hermosa Beach ($972,000) joined Los Altos, Saratoga, Burlingame, Newport Beach and La Jolla as the priciest communities.
