State of Denial
Your article on football in Los Angeles (“L.A. Football Who Needs It?,” May 26) was great because it captures the essence of what is really happening. I would add that over half of the county population did not grow up with football and has no emotional attachment to it, as they might to soccer. The county is broke from being forced to sell assets to balance the budget. And hard core football fans are getting the best football on television with no forced Ram or Raider “away” games. Is it any wonder to anyone that there is no groundswell in L.A. to support an NFL team?
In regard to the Coliseum site, Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas is living in a state of denial if he truly believes that area is safe.
