Jeffrey Mezger is chairman of the board for KB Home, one of the most recognized brands in homebuilding. Mezger, who was named chairman in 2016, launched a strategic transformation of KB Home that led to the development of energy-efficient and environmentally conscious home designs. Mezger was the founding chairman of the Leading Builders of America, and previously served as chairman of the policy advisory board of the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University. He has served on the executive board of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, and currently is a member of the policy advisory board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics at the University of California-Berkeley.
What was your proudest moment?
My proudest moment is when I see the joy on the faces of a new KB homeowner. I’m fortunate to experience my proudest moments on a daily basis – the pride in the new homeowner’s eyes as they receive the keys to their brand-new KB home, knowing that their home has been personalized to their specifications.

What is your next project?
In addition to our daily focus on profitable growth, as the industry leader in innovation and sustainability, we have many exciting projects on the horizon. We recently announced the KB Home ProjeKt: Where Tomorrow Lives – a collaboration of best-in-class partners led by KB Home to create the home of the future incorporating the latest in technology, sustainability, efficiency and wellness which will be debuted in January 2019.
Who is your hero?
My father is my hero…for getting me grounded in homebuilding at an early age.
What do you like best about Los Angeles?
Los Angeles is home to diversity, creativity, prosperity and the pursuit of the American Dream. Of course, the weather is very compelling, as well!
