Jakks Pacific Inc. said Tuesday it completed its $28.3 million acquisition of Halloween costume and decoration company Disguise Inc. The transaction also includes $27.6 million for license transfer fees and liabilities.
San Diego-based Disguise, which was owned by French company Cesar SA, offers costumes of Disney, Marvel, Mattel and other licensed characters as well as traditional costumes. The 21-year-old company had sales of nearly $107 million for the 12-month period ended Sept. 30.
Malibu toymaker Jakks said the deal, which includes a related Hong Kong division, would help broaden its offerings.
Jakks shares were up 60 cents, or 3 percent, to $20.53 in morning trading on the Nasdaq. The company expects to report sales of at least $891 million in fiscal 2008.
