15 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK: MCA Inc., then the only major motion picture company that had not changed hands in the past 18 years, amended its bylaws to discourage any unfriendly takeover attempts Unioil, a Glendale-based oil and gas exploration company, filed for bankruptcy protection rather than fight lawsuits claiming management had misrepresented the financial fortunes of the once-high-flying firm.

THE NEWSMAKER

Jim Zuber, vice president of Canoga Park-based Blue Chip Software, said the company’s popular video game “Millionaire” was not intended to serve as a training aid for would-be stock market investors. “To succeed in the market, you need three things: personal discipline, market knowledge and money,” said Zuber. “‘Millionaire’ will give you two of them.”
