30 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK: Southern California Edison Co. and Bechtel Corp. announced plans to build “Calabasas Park,” a $250 million development of 4,000 “all-electric” homes. Developers said the community would resemble a Bel-Air or San Marino, with prices starting at $45,000 for a small lakefront home and ranging up to $100,000.

THE NEWSMAKER

Marvin W. Reimer was named to the new position of president and general manager of the Sun Co. of San Bernardino, publishers of the morning Sun and evening Telegraph. The company also operated Acme Colorprint, printers of colored comic sections for 52 newspapers.
