Hilton Hotels Corp., which last month announced it was leaving Beverly Hills, said Wednesday it had chosen Fairfax County, Va., as its new corporate home.

Hilton, which wants to lower its cost of doing business, said it is negotiating with prospective landlords in the county, which is located west of Washington D.C. The state and county offered incentives valued at $4.6 million in cash grants and other incentives that include a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit. Hilton also considered Maryland and the District of Columbia in its search.

“We are grateful to the commonwealth and county for their efforts to create such compelling economic incentives for Hilton,” said Chief Executive Christopher J. Nassetta in a statement. “We are confident that being based in this location will allow us to be more effective and efficient as an organization, and will provide a high quality of life for our team members.”

Hilton said it plans to spend least $17 million in the move and create more than 300 full-time jobs in Fairfax County within the next 36 months. Hilton, which was taken private by New York private equity firm Blackstone Group in 2007 for $20 billion, has about 250 employees in its Los Angeles-area operations.
