Gust Soteropulos is senior vice president and general manager at Webcor, a construction services firm founded in 1971 that has grown to more than $2 billion in annual revenue. Soteropulos leads the Southern California region for Webcor, which has constructed many large, iconic projects in Los Angeles such as the Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Residences and JW Marriott at L.A. Live, the new Century Plaza; Four Seasons Private Residences Los Angeles; and the Silverlake Reservoir Complex Storage Replacement. Soteropulos is a board member of the Southern California Leadership Council; a licensed professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

What was your proudest moment?

Seeing my three children grow up in Southern California to become successful young adults now contributing to the benefit of the communities where they live and work.

What is your next project?

I am a big believer in our team members understanding their “Why?” In other words, what motivates and inspires them to wake up every morning and work at Webcor. I’ve found that when you understand your “Why?,” your life, both personally and professionally, takes on a deeper meaning and I strive to be able to consistently have our teams realize and develop their “Why?”

Who is your hero?

Individuals that have been able to make a major difference in the world or whose teachings have stood the long test of time. People that come to mind are St. Paul, Emperor Constantine, Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, and Mother Theresa.

What do you like best about Los Angeles?

Los Angeles provides the ability to be a part of a large yet close-knit community where opportunities are limitless.
