Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. said on Tuesday that it has signed a multiyear deal to provide interactive program guides to a Chinese cable operator, its first such deal in that nation.
The agreement allows Changzhou Broadcast & Television Information Network Co. to incorporate Gemstar-TV Guide’s products and services into its set-top box for its small but growing digital cable television subscriber base.
Czcatv has more than 1 million analog subscribers in the city of Changzhou in China’s Jiangsu province, Gemstar said.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Gemstar shares rose 3 cents in morning trading on the Nasdaq, but later were down 10 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $5.77.
