Revenues rose to $17.7 million from $13.3 million in the year-ago period.

Second-quarter results include income of $2.6 million (9 cents per share) related to a legal settlement with Mintek Digital, Inc. from last June.

, an L.A.-based personal auto and homeowners insurance company, reported net income of $73.6 million ($1.35 per diluted share) for the quarter ended June 30, compared with $78.1 million ($1.43) for the like period a year ago. Revenues rose to $17.7 million from $13.3 million in the year-ago period.

The company’s net premiums written rose 12.6 percent to $729.9 million from $648.5 million in the year-ago quarter. Mercury General’s combined ratio was 90.1 percent in the second quarter, compared with 88.3 percent a year earlier.

– Herbalife Ltd.

, the L.A.-based maker of nutritional products, reported net income of $22.8 million (32 cents per diluted share) for the quarter ended June 30, compared with $12.1 million (22 cents) for the like period a year ago. Revenues rose 18.7 percent to $384.7 million from $324.2 million in the year-ago period.

Excluding a $5.5 million charge related to restructuring the ownership of the company’s China subsidiary, Herbalife reported net income of $28.3 million in the second quarter, compared with $12.1 million for the like period a year ago.

The company expects third-quarter earnings in the range of 31 cents to 33 cents per diluted share and full-year profit between $1.45 and $1.50.

, a Valencia-based 3-D printing systems manufacturer, reported net income (after payment of preferred dividends) of $855,000 (5 cents per diluted share) for the quarter ended June 30, compared with a loss of $1.3 million (10 cents) for the like period a year ago. Revenues rose to $32.8 million from $27.9 million in the year-ago period.

, a Carson-based aerospace components manufacturer, reported net income of $4.1 million (40 cents per diluted share) for the quarter ended July 2, compared with $4.3 million (42 cents) for the like period a year ago. Revenues rose 8 percent to $62 million from $57.4 million in the year-ago period.
