Major League Baseball slugger Manny Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers today in a three-team deal with the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to baseball sources.

Outfielder Ramirez, a key component of the Red Sox’s two recent World Championships, is known for his big bat, long braided hair and erratic demeanor. The Dodgers will not pay Ramirez’s contract this season and he will become a free agent at its conclusion.

The Red Sox are paying the 12-time All-Star $20 million this year.

The Dodgers are said to be sending third baseman Andy LaRoche and pitcher Bryan Morris to the Pirates, who in turn are sending hard-hitting outfielder Jason Bay to the Red Sox. Several minor league players are also going to the Pirates as part of the deal.
