THE LATEST: Harrison is driving CSUN’s effort to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. The university’s Innovation Incubator provides entrepreneurs with workspace and access to business mentors, funding and other services. CSUN last year was named an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

BACKGROUND: Harrison has led Cal State Northridge since 2012. Previously, she served as president of Cal State Monterey Bay, and before that spent 30 years on the faculty and in administrative leadership at Florida State University. She chairs the Steering Committee of the Presidents’ Climate Leadership Network and serves as a commissioner on the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission.

WORTH NOTING: Harrison was named Woman of the Year for California’s 18th Senate District in March by state Sen. Robert Hertzberg.
