Professional services provider Deloitte, which has offices downtown, announced Feb. 28 that it has acquired Glendale-based National TeleConsultants (NTC), a media broadcast technology company specializing in engineering software and related solutions. The acquisition is part of Deloitte’s push to become a leader in providing digital products and services for the media industry supply chain.

“One of Deloitte’s fastest-growing areas has been our media and entertainment sector,” John Footen, a managing director at Deloitte, said. “We have seen incredible growth in media supply chain transformation projects within that. Deloitte is tripling down on this opportunity through rapid organic growth in our capabilities and key acquisitions in engineering and implementation capabilities.”

NTC, founded in 1981, offers products for the digital media broadcast supply chain, from the development of hardware and software to the delivery of media content.
“Deloitte has a long history of partnering with NTC on transformation projects on many accounts,” Footen said. “NTC’s strong capabilities in cloud engineering for media are critical to Deloitte’s media and entertainment clients as they transform operations in that dynamic industry. It is a natural fit.”

Michal Locker, Deloitte’s head of telecommunications, media and entertainment agreed.
“This acquisition bolsters Deloitte Consulting’s world-class software engineering capabilities and squarely aligns with the firm’s deep domain expertise,” Locker said. “NTC fits right in with that strategy and our aspiration to continue as the No. 1 professional services provider to the media and entertainment sectors. NTC expands specifically Deloitte’s capabilities deep into the engineering and implementation of our client core media functions in production, content management and distribution.”

Deloitte will continue use the NTC headquarters in Glendale in addition to other facilities, according to Footen. Current NTC executives Peter Adamiak and Laurie Morse will become managing directors at Deloitte.

Other acquisitions by Deloitte in this space include Dextra Technologies, a product engineering and embedded software firm it bought in January, and HashedIn Technologies, a cloud-based software engineering firm it completed acquiring in early 2021.
Deloitte is also set to close a deal with BIAS Corporation, a cloud consulting firm and leader in Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure Market technology, this year.
