Shares in Cherokee Inc. gained a little Tuesday after the company reported an uptick in third-quarter revenue and profit. Cherokee reported third-quarter net income of $3.7 million (41 cents per share), a 13 percent increase from $3.28 million (37 cents) in the same period a year earlier. Revenues for the Van Nuys-based marketer, licenser and manager of various clothing brands were also up slightly to $8.9 million from $8.8 million. Shares in Cherokee were up 2.9 percent to $33.86 in afternoon trading Tuesday on the Nasdaq. Shares have shed 23 percent so far this year.
