Circuit City Stores Inc. reported a quarterly profit on Monday, reversing a year-earlier loss, helped by strong demand for flat-panel televisions, and raised its expectations for fiscal 2006 sales growth.
It also said Chairman and Chief Executive Alan McCollough would retire and President Philip Schoonover, a former Best Buy Co. Inc. executive who has been leading a turnaround at the electronics retailer, would become CEO.
