Charles Munger has been vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway since 1978 and is a longtime friend and business partner to Warren Buffett. Munger is also chairman of Daily Journal Corp., which owns newspapers targeted at the legal industry and counts the Los Angeles Daily Journal among its publications. Munger is a director of Costco Wholesale Corp. and chairman of the board of trustees of Good Samaritan Hospital. He served as chairman and chief executive of Wesco Financial Corp. between 1984 and 2011. Munger is an active philanthropist. Recent gifts include $21 million to Good Samaritan Hospital and $7.5 million in Berkshire Hathaway stock to Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1948. He’s also given nine-figure gifts to University of Michigan, which he attended. Munger has an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion and is No. 35 on the Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of Wealthiest Angelenos.
