Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, already one of the largest and most well-known hospitals in the United States, is steadily expanding. In August, it announced the purchase of a new building for outpatient surgery. The new center is located on San Vicente Boulevard, adjacent to the hospital’s 1.5 million-square-foot main complex between Beverly Boulevard and Third Street.
By opening an outpatient surgery facility, Cedars-Sinai is responding to a trend toward one-stop medical care. Pre-admission testing, patient education, surgical procedures, recovery, and discharge will all be handled at the same location.
Also, by providing outpatient services, the hospital will reduce the load for its inpatient surgical and care facilities. This will be welcome news for Cedars-Sinai’s staff because, with an occupancy rate of 76.6 percent, the hospital is the busiest in L.A. County.
