CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. settled a class action lawsuit accusing the firm of tolerating sexual harassment of female employees.
The El Segundo-based real estate broker agreed in Chicago district court to agreed to a three-tiered settlement structure allowing female employees to recover between $1,500 and as much as $150,000 each in damages if their claims prove true, the ruling said.
Women who worked for CBRE and were based in the U.S. after Jan. 1, 1999, are eligible to participate in the settlement, according to the court filing. CBRE denied any wrongdoing and said it is “pleased to put this litigation behind us.”
Shares in CBRE closed up 3.3 percent, or 92 cents, to $28.62 in afternoon trading Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
