Bobby Murphy

Chief Technology Officer

Snap Inc.

Bobby Murphy co-founded the global social media platform Snapchat and its parent company, Snap Inc. Snapchat, a camera application, allows users to share disappearing messages, photos and videos. An average of 187 million people use Snapchat daily, according to the company’s 2017 annual report. Murphy conceived the idea for the app with his peers Evan Spiegel and Reggie Brown while attending Stanford University. They founded the company in 2010 as Future Freshman. Snap completed its initial public offering in March 2017, with a first-trading-day bump bringing the company to a market capitalization of about $33 billion. Since then Snap shares have fallen significantly, spending much of June in the $12-$14 range and a market cap of about $16 billion. Snap in June notched a partnership with music-streaming company Pandora Media Inc., which will allow Pandora songs to be shared by Snapchat users through the messaging platform.
