Thriving In Their 40’s: Aaron Lewis

Aaron Lewis

Partner and Vice Chair of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Group

Covington & Burling LLP

Aaron Lewis chose to join Covington’s Washington, DC office after law school in part because of the firm’s decades-long commitment to pro bono work and its tradition of encouraging government service. Such an opportunity arose in 2009, when Covington partner Eric Holder asked Lewis to join his staff following Holder’s nomination to serve as the Attorney General. Lewis served as a counsel in the Office of the Attorney General until 2011, focusing on issues of national security and civil rights, before becoming a federal prosecutor. In 2012, Aaron joined the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles as an Assistant United States Attorney.

Lewis left the U.S. Attorney’s Office in March 2015, when Covington opened its office in Los Angeles. Since then, he has grown his White Collar Defense and Investigations practice, and helped steer the LA office’s growth from five lawyers on day one to more than 40 lawyers at present.
