Sooran Jones serves as general counsel for CJ America, Inc., the U.S. headquarters for CJ group, a Korean conglomerate with a presence across the U.S. in food, food service, biotechnology, logistics, and entertainment/media industries. With the newest acquisition of Schwan’s Company in efforts to continuously expand in the U.S., Jones has built CJ America’s legal department from the ground up, from a single in-house counsel department to a diverse team of eight members within the legal and compliance department.
Jones and the team oversee the legal affairs and the corporate matters for the company and its affiliates, undertaking broad responsibilities such as overseeing corporate governance, managing various lawsuits and legal issues, handling corporate transactions including M&A activities, and advising business teams and management on legal risks and issues.
