Title: Director original series, Netflix. Segal’s biggest production credits at Netflix are “Glow,” and “One Day at a Time,” which she stressed have been collaborative efforts.

Company: Netflix is the largest U.S. exhibitor of streaming movies and TV shows, reporting 148.8 million global subscribers in April.

Financials: Netflix has a market capitalization of $153 billion as of June 10. The company recorded $15.8 billion in 2018 revenue and $1.2 billion in 2018 net income.

What’s your job?

I work on the original series creative team at Netflix with a focus on comedy though I work on a few dramas as well. I cover both development and current series, which allows me to oversee projects from pitch to launch.

What was your breakthrough?

I’m extremely lucky in that every job I’ve had so far has felt like a breakthrough in different ways. My first job at 3 Arts gave me a lay of the land in TV and led me to my second job working for Greg Daniels on “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” which was a dream come true for me. I used to — and still do — spend the majority of my free time watching outtakes of those two series, so getting to sit in those writers’ rooms and visit those sets was euphoria. My first big success happened as an executive and producer at Jax Media where I started their development arm. That’s where I sold my first series, “Search Party” (to TBS). We independently financed and produced and then shopped it, which was an amazing experience.

What’s a day at your job like?

The one constant is our original series team meetings where we share updates on our development and current series with one another so that we can stay aligned and learn from each other’s failures and successes.

Do you have a mentor?

Yes, many! Greg Daniels is a mentor, first and foremost. I’ll never forget what I learned about comedy and producing from him, or what he and his wife Susanne taught me about keeping your priorities straight in this industry. They’re both wildly successful and busy, but they put their roles as parents and spouses to one another first.

What are your long-term goals?

In the long term, I’d like to go back to producing and run my own production company. I love being on set more than anything, so the more I can do that, the better.

What do you for fun?

I’m very active and love exercise, especially when it’s outdoors. I love trying new hikes around L.A. I also love to travel, and as much as we can, my fiancé and I take weekend trips to places we haven’t been before. I also love to try new restaurants with friends — there’s so much amazing food in L.A now. And, finally, I’m a “Real Housewives” fanatic. Right now, I’m devouring the “Real Housewives of New York City.” It might be the best season yet.
