Littler Mendelson, P.C.
Gene Ryu is one of Littler’s rainmakers and diversity champions. Representing major employers throughout the country, Ryu works with clients on a wide variety of matters in all areas of labor and employment law. This year, some of his client accomplishments include obtaining a complete defense ruling in a contentious race discrimination case for a national client; handling multiple class and collective actions on wage and hour matters; and assisting several international clients to streamline their employment agreements and policies to be consistent across the globe. He is also on the forefront of litigating multiple cases alleging independent contractor misclassification within the “gig” economy.
With tech start-ups as a major segment of his client base, Ryu was instrumental in developing an innovative technology solution – Littler’s X-celerator toolkit – to support emerging companies in building and maintaining their workforce. Ryu is co-chair of Littler’s Ohana Affinity Group and serves on the board of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.
