Matthew Spain is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for Industrial Technology Investment Banking with B. Riley FBR, Inc. Over his 25-year career, Spain has closed over 70 M&A transactions including corporate divestitures, founder owner/ operated companies, private equity sponsored deals as well as public company transactions and special committee advisory assignments.
Among Spain’s most notable recent accomplishments in the last year, he originated the firm’s $260 million private placement deal for Select Interior Concepts, a provider of interior surface products for residential and commercial builders. As the first broadly syndicated equity deal closed under the B. Riley FBR name since the merger, this transaction served as an important milestone in continuing FBR’s legacy and market leadership in 144A offerings for the newly-combined firm. B. Riley FBR acted as sole initial purchaser and placement agent in the transaction and mobilized its team to execute the deal quickly, securing a high quality institutional investor base which allowed the client to pursue M&A opportunities to accelerate its growth.
