Peggy Minnich joined The California Wellness Foundation in 1992 as Controller/Director of Finance. At the time she was literally one of the first staff hires by the Foundation’s first CEO. During the Foundation’s early days, the controller role was critical in navigating the conversion foundation process. She and a small team of staff and Board facilitated the complex handover of (the then converting to a for-profit) Health Net’s assets to the Foundation, and created a foundation dedicated to improving the health of Californians. By 1994, the Foundation’s assets had grown to nearly $800 million. Minnich was promoted to Vice President of Finance in 2002. At that time, she had developed the finance department into a finely honed machine. She was promoted to Chief Operations and Finance officer in 2015. In this role, she oversees all finance, information technology, grants management and administrative activities at Cal Wellness. She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Foundation, and, working closely with the CEO Judy Belk, helps develop and implement Cal Wellness’ vision and strategies.
