Los Angeles Sanitation has built one of the world’s most technologically advanced water treatment systems at the Terminal Island Water Reclamation Plant. The new facility doubles the plant’s capacity to 12 million gallons per day of recycled water. The utility will use a portion of that amount to shield the local groundwater system from seawater intrusion and use the rest for irrigation, industrial uses and to augment a nearby lake. This innovative facility takes wastewater that would have been discharged into a nearby harbor and cleans the water using advanced water purification technology including microfiltration, reverse osmosis, and an advanced oxidation process (AOP). Walsh Construction built the facility onsite in a tight space using a modular design, with the modules fabricated offsite in a safer, more controlled environment. Site and foundation work could be completed at the same time as module fabrication; the modules arrived at the site pre-assembled, tested and electrically wired.

Coastal Pacific Construction recently completed a 244,000 sf expansion of Puma’s West Coast Distribution Center in Torrance. Coastal Pacific’s main focus was to provide the infrastructure required for the install of the largest robotic Autostore System in the United States (55,000 sf). The two main components of the System’s infrastructure included achieving a “super flat” floor which was achieved through the use of the Ductilcrete concrete system within the existing building, as well as providing structural perimeter support for the prefabricated vertical aluminum Autostore System.
