ANDREW K. BENTON
President and Chief Executive Pepperdine University
Andrew Benton has been president of Pepperdine University since 2000, and also serves as chief executive. He serves as chair of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and is a former chair of the American Council on Education. Benton is past chair of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities and a member of the American Bar Association, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the President’s Cabinet of the West Coast Conference, the Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities and the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. Benton has more than 40 years of experience in university administration and has offered testimony on the importance of transparency before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development. The 2018/2019 academic year will be his last. He announced plans in March to step down next year.
