Vera Guerin

Immediate Past Chair, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

A member of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center board, Vera Guerin inherited her father’s stake in major California homebuilder Shapell Industries, which sold for $1.6 billion in 2013. While she maintains an interest in the company, she has put that money to use in her philanthropy, donating $5 million to the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Guild Lung Institute and $10 million in 2013 to establish the Vera and Paul Guerin Family Congenital Heart Program at Cedars-Sinai; $10 million to endow two academic chairs in pulmonary medicine and pediatric neurosurgery and to support Cedars-Sinai’s Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion. She is the immediate past chair of Cedars-Sinai’s board and is a former president of the Women’s Guild. She is a theater producer and produced the shows “Leap of Faith,” “Amadeus,” and “Tom Jones, the Musical.” Guerin continues to be involved in building development and net leasing, and remains deeply committed to her role at Cedars-Sinai.
