Jae-dong Kim, a Koreantown gastroenterologist and Catholic deacon, saw a social problem in his community that wasn’t being fixed by Silicon Beach’s latest dating apps: fellow Korean-Americans paying thousands of dollars for professional marriage consultants.

According to the Los Angeles Times, rather than ‘swipe right,’ or invest in a consultant himself, he created his own live events company to connect Korean immigrant parents with unmarried children.
