New CEO Plugs Into Koreatown Software Firm

Network Automation Inc. has named Gary Bishop chief executive. Bishop, who was formerly chief strategy officer for the Koreatown company, took over earlier this month. The company’s former CEO, founder Dustin Snell, has switched to chief software architect.

Network Automation develops software for online processes for businesses. For example, the company’s AutoMate might generate and distribute a company’s daily reports. The company’s clients include Northrop Grumman Corp. and Pepsi Co.

Bishop, who has been with the company since 2009, said the change will allow Snell to focus on developing the company’s technology.

Network Automation, which has 35 employees in its office space above the Wiltern Theatre, recently announced the addition of 83 customers and a revenue increase of 21 percent for the quarter ended Dec. 31.

Game Change

Chief Executive Brian Farrell is calling THQ Inc.’s recent logo switch a reflection of the company’s changing focus.

The Agoura Hills video game publisher announced Jan. 12 that it was doing away with its traditional logo, a black box with white letters, in favor of a more modern look with grey and red letters on a white background.

But what does the gaming world think of the new logo? So far, it has scored mixed reviews. Blogger Lorenzo Winfrey seems to like the logo, calling it “modern and edgy but not too over the top”; gaming blog Kotaku called it “a little off-putting at first.”

Two years ago, THQ faced significant financial troubles but has since downsized and revamped its portfolio of games.
