Curtain Call: Regency Theatres, a Calabasas-based cinema chain, has acquired two Westwood movies theaters. Regency will now own and operate the Village Theater, at 961 Broxton Ave. and opened in 1931, and the Bruin Theater, at 948 Broxton and opened in 1937. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rolling With It: Encore Media Partners, a West L.A. marketing and media buying firm, has contracted to advise the American Film Market for its November run in Santa Monica. The AFM, produced by the Westwood-based International Film & Television Alliance, is an annual showplace for independent film producers and distributors.
Taken Control: Caltius Equity Partners, a West L.A. investment firm, along with private investor Kevin Mencarelli, has acquired a controlling stake in Diversified Human Resources Inc., a Phoenix-based outsourced human resources services firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Linked Up: Wwcot, a Santa Monica-based architecture firm, has merged with DLR Group, an Omaha, Neb., design group, to create DLR Group Wwcot. Wwcot had four offices in California; DLR had 14 nationwide. DLR Group Wwcot will be led by Adrian Cohen out of the Santa Monica office.
Checked In: High Lantern Group, a New York-based public relations and business advisory firm, has opened an office in Pasadena to cover the Los Angeles market. The new outpost is at 465 E. Union St.
Name Change: Van Beveren & Butelo Inc., a Glendale geotechnical consulting firm, has changed its named to Shannon & Wilson Inc. The Van Beveren firm was acquired by Shannon & Wilson, a Seattle-based engineering services firm, in July 2008.

Product Praise: PowerBroker 6.0, a password security software product made by BeyondTrust, an Agoura Hills-based software company won a Global Product Excellence Award from Info Security Products Guide, a San Jose-based IT security industry publisher. The award was given in the privileged access management category.
Taking Shape: Total Immersion, a Miracle Mile-based maker of 3-D promotional products, has formed a partnership with Credelis Media Group, a Miami-based digital media company. Credelis will now be able to offer Total Immersion’s “augmented reality” 3-D technology to Credelis clients.
Digging In: Aecom Technology Corp., a downtown L.A. provider of technical and management support services, has won a $12 million design contract from Rio Tinto Coal Australia. The contract is part of Rio Tinto’s Kestrel Mine project in Queensland.
