Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Sells Stake

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans said Thursday that it sold a controlling interest of the company to New York private equity firm Falconhead Capital LLC for an undisclosed price.

The private Vernon denim manufacturer, marketer and distributor of department store jeans and other denim apparel targets Baby Boomer women with a proprietary slimming “crisscross” front panel design without using non-denim material. The company was founded in 2003 by Lisa Rudes-Sandel and her siblings, Leslie and Kenneth. They eventually convinced their father, George, a fashion industry veteran, to come out of retirement and join the team.

“The new executive leadership that we are bringing into the company through this transaction will enable us to take NYDJ to a new level and accomplish our long-term business objectives,” said George Rudes in a statement. The family will remain actively involved in the company.
