Disney, CBS Sign Netflix Deal

Netflix Inc. said Tuesday it signed deals with the television units of Walt Disney Co. and CBS Corp. to make current and previously aired episodes of several popular shows, such as “Hannah Montana” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” available on its online movie rental service.

Los Gatos-based Netflix, best known for its DVD mail rental service, did not disclose financial terms of the agreements with Disney-ABC Television Group and CBS Television Network.

Among the Burbank-based Disney programs available are “Hannah Montana,” “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” Previously aired episodes of shows such as “The Replacements” and “The Emperor’s New School” will be available next year.

Netflix users will be able to watch episodes of CBS shows such as “NCIS,” “Numb3rs” as well the “CSI” franchise, which includes “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY.” Older episodes of the “CSI” series, “Jericho” and programs such as “MacGyver” and “Family Ties” will be offered for computer or television viewing later in the fall, the company said.
