Montecito Blaze Puts Scare Into Stars’ Enclave

For the showbiz community the wildfires raging across Southern California hit closest to home in Montecito, where a number of stars and producers live.

Montecito homeowners Rob Lowe and Ivan Reitman (co-topper of the Montecito Picture Co.) were among those who had to flee encroaching embers. Christopher Lloyd’s home was heavily damaged in the fire, but the “Back to the Future” thesp was said to be filming in Vancouver.

Oprah Winfrey, who also owns a home in Montecito, was working on her show in Chicago when the fire started; she compared notes with Lowe, currently starring on “Brothers and Sisters,” on her show Friday. Lowe told her that he and his son dodged embers as they fled the scene, which he described as “Armageddon.”
