The Calabasas-based network infrastructure systems maker Ixia on Friday posted increased profit and sales for the second quarter.

Ixia reported second quarter net income of $1.8 million (3 cents per share), a 29 percent increase from $1.4 million (2 cents) in the same period a year earlier.

Sales were also up 5 percent to $38.8 million. Shares in Ixia were up 12 percent to $8.13 in afternoon trading Friday.
