Health Net Inc. said Tuesday that it has been hired by Dubai’s government to help develop a new health-care funding system for the country. No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

The Woodland Hills-based healthcare service provider’s federal services unit will help the emirate’s Dubai Health Authority to improve its “current health care services and facilities,” as the population grows. Dubai is one of seven independent emirates in the UAE.

Shares in Health Net closed up 3.6 percent in trading Tuesday but were down 2.8 percent to $31 in after-market trading.
