Burbank Office Project Planned

Higgins Development Partners is planning to construct a $130 million office building in the Burbank Media District.

Higgins plans to break ground on the seven-story 360,000-square-foot office building at 2300 Empire Center by September. The building should be complete about a year after that, the Chicago-based developer said in a statement. It’s the first L.A. County project for the Midwest builder.

A recent influx of media and entertainment companies has helped squeeze the office space market in Burbank. Last quarter’s 3.6 percent vacancy rate was the lowest in the Tri-Cities region, which includes Pasadena and Glendale.
