Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has appointed Richard Benbow as interim general manager of Los Angeles' community development department. Benbow most recently served as acting chief executive for the city's community redevelopment agency.
Councilman Bill Rosendahl has hired Deborah Weinstein as environmental deputy. Weinstein was previously natural resource and environment policy analyst with the U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C.
Abraxis BioScience Inc., a global biopharmaceutical company, has made the following personnel changes: Richard E. Maroun has been named chief administrative officer, Thomas H. Silberg as executive vice president of commercial operations and operational excellence, John F. Countrywide Insurance Group has promoted David Kuhn to managing director of the company's commercial lines brokerage business in Calabasas. Kuhn was recently president of the firm's division.
