has asked


Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

to raise its bid for the Chatsworth-based DVD and CD distributor and submit an offer that better reflects its value by Oct. 31, Image said in a statement.


On Sept. 13, Santa Monica-based Lions Gate offered to buy Image for as much as $93 million in stock. A day later, Image said it was not for sale and that the bid was too low. Still, Image’s board of directors appointed a special committee to evaluate the proposal. Image has been working with Lions Gate since then “to facilitate the process moving forward,” the company said in a statement Thursday.

said its radio division has launched the first Spanish-language equivalent to the popular “Jack” radio format. The L.A.-based media company said its “Jose: Toca lo que Quiere” (

“He Plays What He Wants”

) targets Hispanics aged 25 to 54 and features a mix of Spanish-language adult contemporary hits from the late 1970s to today.


“Jose,” the voice between the music cuts on the new format, debuts on Thursday on KRCX-FM (99.9) in Sacramento, KCVR-FM (98.9) in Modesto, KCVR-AM (1570) in Stockton, KRZY-AM (1450) in Albuquerque and KMXA-AM (1090) in Denver.

established a new $75 million secured credit facility. The credit agreement with Wells Fargo Bank and JP Morgan Chase Bank includes an option to extend the facility to $100 million. The new facility increases the commitment available for borrowing from a previous $40 million agreement and extends the maturity date to October 2010. The Pomona-based auto part distributor said the new facility will be used for acquisitions, working capital and general corporate purposes.
