In an emergency session of Sony’s board, Nobuyuki Idei agreed to step down as CEO and turn the company over to Stringer, 63. Stringer has overseen the U.S.-based movie and music operations. The change will take place after a June 22 shareholder vote, at which Stringer is also expected to take a seat on the board.
