IHOP Corp. signed a deal with Wayport Inc. to provide wireless Internet access in select restaurants in 21 states. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Through the pilot program, Wayport will provide public Wi-Fi access for customers with mobile devices at 70 of the Glendale-based restaurant chain’s locations. The program, announced Wednesday, will also feature support for additional applications, including cashless payments, security cameras and in-store music. Eleven of the pancake restaurants participating in the program are in California.

Wayport said there’s an option in the agreement to supply Wi-Fi in more IHOP restaurants if the pilot program is successful.

Austin-based Wayport signed an agreement in 2003 to launch a similar pilot program in McDonald’s locations. Two years later, Wayport now provides Wi-Fi in more than 4,500 McDonald’s.

IHOP’s shares settled up 0.5 percent to $45.32 on Wednesday.
