Gas Prices Continue Edging Downward

While gas prices inched up slightly in much of the U.S. for the week ended Jan. 10, they kept up a slow descent in Los Angeles and the state of California.

The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $1.963 for the week ended Jan. 10, according to the Energy Information Administration, down from $1.992 the previous week. While the statewide average was $1.932, down from $1.982 the week earlier, it’s nearly 27 cents more than the comparable period of 2004. L.A. is 27 cents more now than it was one year prior as well.

Like last week, New York edged out California as the most expensive state to buy a gallon of gas in, and L.A. trumped San Francisco as the most expensive city to fill up your tank for the week ended Jan. 10.
