For the first time in 14 weeks, gas prices fell a bit less than 1 cent a gallon last week in Los Angeles, according to data from the federal Energy Information Administration.
The average gallon of self-serve regular in the Los Angeles area was $2.594 for the week ended April 18, down from $2.602 the previous week. L.A. gas prices are about 40 cents higher per gallon than they were just one year ago.
Statewide gas prices dropped nearly 1 cent per gallon in the past week. The California statewide average was $2.584 per gallon for the week ended April 18, down from $ 2.592 in the prior week, and nearly 44 cents higher than one year earlier.
California remained the most expensive state in which to buy a gallon of gas, and San Francisco was the most expensive city, out-pricing Los Angeles for the third straight week with an average price of $ 2.657 per gallon.
