The Los Angeles Lakers top Forbes’ National Basketball Association Franchise Value List for 2004 with a current value of $510 million for the 2003 to 2004 season, a 14 percent gain from last season.
According to Forbes, the Lakers also had debt of 11 percent and revenues of $170 million. The operating income earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were $35.8 million.
The top five teams, by current value: 1)Lakers, 2)New York Knicks ($494 million), 3)Dallas Mavericks ($374 million), 4)Houston Rockets ($369 million), 5)Chicago Bulls ($368 million).
The current value is based on the team’s current arena deal without deduction for debt, other than arena debt.
