100th birthday bash: Famed trumpeter Louie Armstrong may be gone, but that isn't stopping the Hollywood Bowl from staging the Louis Armstrong 100th Birthday Celebration on Sept. 13. The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra will be there along with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Nicholas Payton will be playing trumpet as well as Roy Hargrove and Jon Feddis. Start your engines: In honor of the Summer Olympic Games in Australia, the Pasadena Historical Museum is holding a Motorcar Decathlon on Sept. 10 in conjunction with the preview opening of the exhibition "Let the Games Begin: The Pasadena Historical Museum Celebrates the Olympic Spirit." Owners of classic, unusual cars and trucks and regular family cars will travel to various historic, Olympic-related sites in the Pasadena area. The rally is limited to the first 100 cars. Theater classic: "Death of a Salesman" won several Tony awards when it was on Broadway last year. Now it is coming to the Ahmanson Theatre, beginning with previews Sept. 12. It opens Sept. 20. Actor Brian Dennehy has been called a towering presence as Willy Loman, Arthur Miller's American Everyman. Elizabeth Franz and Ron Eldard also recreate their Broadway performances.
